“Dead End For Madeleine” Say The McCanns

January 18, 2010

Madeleine Beth McCann

John Corner – a close friend of the McCanns – says…

“Kate and Gerry are relying on the Portugese police. They’re really their only hope to find Madeleine. And there’s an uncomfortable feeling that the police are not necessarily looking outward for Madeleine. They’re turning their attention inward to the parents and they know that that’s a dead end”.

Unfortunate choice of words…to say the least…

To be fair, it is Jon Corner who says that the McCanns know. And, it may well be that the interpretation means a dead end to that line of police inquiry.

McCanns taped admission unlawfully obtained

October 3, 2008

In my view, Gonçalo Amaral knows more than he is letting on about what happened to Madeleine on the night of 3 May 2007. This is based upon his telling a British TV journalist that he had heard Clarence Mitchell tipping off the McCanns that they were the subject of electronic surveillance. Given that there was no lawful authority for the PJ to use electronic surveillance upon the McCanns and the remaining members of the Tapas bar 9, the PJ were unable to use the evidence on the tapes because it would be inadmissible in court.

J’accuse I accuse the McCanns

September 4, 2008

Were the Portuguese police right to “believe that Kate McCann killed Madeleine while putting her to bed at their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz between 7pm and 8.30pm on May 3” 2007?

Clarence Mitchell claimed that the allegation is nonsensical. The McCann camp lied to the public and the media when “A source close to the McCanns said: “… Kate was not in the apartment alone with Maddie”…”.

Even in this untruthful account given by Kate McCann she states she was alone in the apartment whilst Gerry McCann went out to play tennis: “Kate said that she and Gerry went back to apartment, with the children, around 5:40 pm and gave them bath, together (statement to PJ, September 6, 2007). They thought about taking the children to the playground area, after bath, but decided not to do it, that day, because the children were really very tired. Just before 6:00 pm, Gerry left the apartment and went to the tennis court“.

Kate McCann lied to cover up the fact that she was alone with the three children in the apartment and when the children were being bathed: “According to his statement, on September 7, 2007Gerry was playing tennis. At around 6:30 pm, David Payne came from Paraíso bar, and asked him if he was going to keep playing. Gerry said he didn’t know, because Kate could need some help to take care of the three children, as they intended to take them to the playground, after the bath“.

I did float the theory on my Jailhouselawyer’s blog that perhaps Madeleine drowned? In any event, I would strongly suggest that Madeleine died around bath time. Why did the McCanns go to so much trouble to try and convince the public and the media that the adults bathed the children together? The McCanns got the basics of their story together, however, it started to fall apart with the glaring inconsistencies. Not only did the PJ detect the inconsistencies, bloggers, forumers and those in chatrooms also ripped the McCanns story apart.

The hastily arranged get together in the Tapas bar was solely for the purpose of discussing what Gerry McCann stated was a disaster to their life-style. The agenda being a cover up. Their careers and reputations were at stake, Madeleine was dead and none of their medical expertise could alter that fact, so they embarked upon a salvage operation to save what was left. It was decided that the Vanishing Act would be blamed on an abductor who broke into the apartment, and the McCanns would use the media to further their aims. When their version of events raises the eyebrows of the PJ because what they are hearing does not correlate with the scene as set up by the McCanns, Jane Tanner suddenly becomes a witness to seeing the abductor. However, this hastily arranged shoring up the version of events had flaws. Neither Jeremy Wilkins nor Gerry McCann state they saw Jane Tanner at the same time and place she claimed to be when seeing the abductor. Jeremy Wilkins had inadvertantly stumbled upon Gerry McCann tampering with the shutters to make it look like a break in had occured, or as he later claimed a break out by the abductor as he went out of the window. Both Gerry McCann and Jeremy Wilkins would not only have seen the abductor, they would have also heard him.

Bath time, Jane Tanner’s sighting and Gerry McCann and Jeremy Wilkins meeting are 3 key weaknesses in the McCanns version of events.

Clarence Mitchell states: “We just hope that everyone can see these ridiculous rumours for what they are. It is very hard on the couple because they are not allowed to talk about the investigation and cannot defend themselves”.

There is nothing stopping the McCanns from speaking out now to defend themselves.

J’accuse I accuse the McCanns.

McCanns lie over no evidence

August 15, 2008

It is untruthful for Gerry McCann to claim “that Portuguese police documents show there is “absolutely no evidence” that his daughter Madeleine has been harmed, and that his family still believe she could be found alive“.

Gerry McCann’s arrogant boast is based upon his belief that he is confident that their concealment of Madeleine’s body will mean that it will never be discovered. True, the PJ have so far been unable to find Madeleine’s body. However, there are examples of successful prosecutions in the absence of a body.

Where the McCanns fall down is if there was an innocent explanation for Madeleine’s death, why didn’t they summon help, and why instead did they dispose of her body? Truth and innocence do not require a cover up such as a fake abduction story. And there was the fake break in story. And the fake sighting of the so-called abductor by Jane Tanner. The McCanns could not agree how they last saw Madeleine before going out to the Tapas bar, they gave different accounts. The truth only needs one account.

In this case, Chris McCann of the Crown Prosecution Service successfully prosecuted without a body.

Reconstruction ‘casts doubt on Madeleine McCann kidnapping’

August 8, 2008

By David Brown.

A significant study into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has indicated that kidnapping would be inconsistent with the evidence.

Paulo Sargento, a criminal psychologist at Lusófona University in Libson, has produced a 3D reconstruction of events at the Ocean Club on the evening Madeleine disappeared.

He used minute-by-minute breakdowns of events published in The Times, the respected Portuguese newspapers Público and Sol and the BBC to test all hypotheses put forward by the Portuguese authorities.

Dr Sargento cross-checked times and events from the moment that Kate and Gerry McCann went to pick up their children from the resort’s kindergarten at 4pm, until 10pm, when Mrs McCann reported that Madeleine was missing from their apartment.

He found that from the moment when the McCanns arrived at the tapas restaurant at 8pm, seven people in their party got up a total of 14 times in two hours.

Dr Sargento told SIC television: “There were people passing almost every five minutes. The question is how, in that time, could it be possible with so many people coming and going that no one saw someone coming in through the window without being seen? We have concluded this theory is very inconsistent.”

It is understood that the recreation will be made available to the Polícia Judiciária to assist them in creating a definitive timeline of events on the Ocean Club.

Kate McCann tried to emotionally blackmail head of the PJ

August 6, 2008

The Telegraph is reporting: Kate begged Portuguese police to end ‘war’

Once more the British media is adding something to its reporting which is not mentioned in Kate McCann’s letter to Paulo Rebelo, that is, the term ‘war’. And, rather conveniently, failing to address other factors in the text of Kate McCann’s letter.

For example, the McCanns were made arguidos in September. It is improper for the suspects in a case to write to the official in charge of the case demanding to be kept informed about the details of the inquiry into their conduct.

Kate McCann wrote in her letter: “We will continue to work with the PJ (and are keen to do so as soon as possible!) as we have done since that moment when I discovered that Madeleine had been taken”.

One thing that stands out about the McCanns in this case is their failure to work with the PJ from the outset in their inquiry into the disappearance of Madeleine. It is a lie for Kate McCann to claim that they have always worked with the PJ since Madeleine’s disappearance. This lie is exposed for what it is given that the letter was written on 4th December 2007, and the McCanns fled Portugal on 9th September 2007 leaving the PJ with 48 unanswered questions.

Kate McCann writes: “Madeleine is the most precious thing in our life”. If this was the case, then the very least the McCanns can do for the memory of Madeleine is admit to killing her and disposing of her body.

Kate McCann writes: “This shouldn’t be about ‘finger-pointing blame'”. However, from the outset of this case the McCanns have been finger-pointing the blame at everybody else but themselves. Ever since they managed to get the PJ files the McCanns have been seeking to finger-point at the PJ for its alleged failings as a distraction from the McCanns crimes of child neglect and child killing and disposable of a child’s body.

It is true that the PJ are guilty of failings in this investigation. However, this amounts to a splinter of wood compared to the plank of wood of the guilt by the McCanns.

McCanns responsible for Madeleine’s disappearance

August 5, 2008

According to the Telegraph: “The pictures could have played a vital part in helping to eliminate suspects or stop any abductor from fleeing the country with Madeleine“.

The pictures may well have played a vital part in the investigation in that the PJ eliminated them from the inquiry. What are these people in these photofits suspected of doing? The Telegraph fails to enlighten us. I am somewhat puzzled by the Telegraph referring to a so-called abductor fleeing the country with Madeleine? First, it has to be established that there was an abduction. It has never been established that Madeleine was abducted. This was a version of events as given by  Kate and Gerry McCann. Like Jane Tanner’s alleged sighting of an abductor, both versions have no credibility.

The photo below of the two suspects in the disappearance of Madeleine did play a vital part.

It is time that the British media focused upon the McCanns and stopped wasting time and trying to insult our intelligence by giving more relevance to sketches of innocent people. It was not the PJ nor the Portuguese who are responsible for Madeleine’s disappearance. Kate and Gerry McCann are.

Police files reveal McCanns and Tanner’s lies

August 5, 2008

According to the Telegraph “Kate and Gerry gain hope from Portuguese police inquiry files“. This is clearly Clarence Mitchell spin. The idea being that the McCanns hoped to gain leads from the files to help find Madeleine. In truth, the McCanns wished to see the files to discover the extent of the police evidence against them. As they had hoped, it amounted to very little. Some will say, no evidence therefore the McCanns must be innocent. However, from the outset, the McCanns have ensured that very little evidence is put together to build a case against them.

The PJ were suspicious of this photo of Madeleine’s bed. The PJ did not believe it had been slept in by Madeleine. I would have to agree with the PJ. It looks like the top sheet has been rolled back in readiness for Madeleine to go to bed. And, the most obvious reason why Madeleine did not go to sleep in the bed on 3 May 2007 was because she was already dead. Therefore, the McCanns lied about all 3 children being put to bed before they went out to the Tapas bar. It would also explain why Kate McCann failed to answer the BBC reporter’s question, during a TV interview, “Was Madeleine asleep when you went out?”.

Notice also in the photo where Cuddle Cat is. According to the McCanns, they knew an abductor had been in the apartment because Cuddle Cat had been placed on a shelf which was too high for Madeleine to reach. This was obviously another lie made up by the McCanns to push forward their abduction theory.

According to Jane Tanner’s sketch at 3 is where Gerry McCann and Jeremy Wilkins were supposed to have been stood talking. And at 4 is where Jane Tanner claims to have been when she claims to have seen the abductor crossing her path. However, according to Gerry McCann, he claims to have crossed over the road to talk to Jeremy Wilkins, and that would have been level with at 4. Bearing in mind neither Gerry McCann nor Jeremy Wilkins saw Jane Tanner at all.

It has been recorded that Gerry McCann and Jeremy Wilkins became friendly at the resort. There is no record of Jane Tanner and Jeremy Wilkins having become friends. And yet, note how Jane Tanner has used the familiar “Jez”, the shortened form of Jeremy, to describe where she is supposed to have seen him talking to Gerry McCann. This would indicate that Gerry McCann in some way inappropriately put words into Jane Tanner’s mouth when she gave her evidence.

If Jane Tanner’s account was to be believed, she was on the same narrow footpath passing the two men talking, and Wilkins had a child in a buggy with him, and yet they failed to notice her? She failed to notice Jeremy Wilkins had the child in a buggy at the time. Given the narrowness of the footpath, either the two men would have had to make way to let her pass by, or she would have had to step on the road to pass by them. Jane Tanner fails to mention any of this. I find it unbelievable that she would walk past Gerry McCann without a greeting in passing.

Silence of the McCanns

August 4, 2008

It will be remembered that 2 days after being made arguidos, the McCanns fled Portugal for Britain, leaving behind 48 unanswered questions put to them by the PJ. Upon arriving back in Britain, Gerry McCann had this to say:

Despite there being so much we wish to say, we are unable to do so, except to say this, we played no part in the disappearance of our lovely daughter, Madeleine“.

Now the McCanns are no longer subject to the secrecy laws in Portugal, no longer can they claim to be unable to speak freely. Given that Gerry McCann has stated that there is so much that the couple wish to say, when they could not say it, why are the McCanns now so silent on providing explanations to the 48 unanswered questions?

Before the McCanns blamed the PJ for their silence. Now, only the McCanns can be blamed for their silence.

What guilty secrets are the McCanns keeping quiet about?

The 48 questions they refused to answer and the one they answered:

The Judiciária’s 48 questions that Kate did not answer

1 On the 3rd of May 2007, at around 10 p.m., when you entered the apartment, what did you see, what did you do, where did you search, what did you handle?

2 Did you search in the couple’s bedroom closet? (said she would not reply)

3 (Two photographs of her bedroom’s closet are exhibited) Can you describe its contents?

4 Why are the curtains in front of the side window, behind the sofa (photograph is exhibited) ruffled? Did someone pass behind that sofa?

5 How long did the search that you made in the apartment after detecting the disappearance of your daughter Madeleine take?

6 Why did you say straight away that Madeleine had been abducted?

7 Presuming that Madeleine had been abducted, why did you leave the twins alone at home while you went to the Tapas to raise the alarm? Even because the supposed abductor could still be inside the apartment.

8 Why didn’t you ask the twins at that moment what had happened to their sister, or why didn’t you ask them at a later point in time?

9 When you raised the alarm at the Tapas, what exactly did you say and what were the words?

10 What happened after you raised the alarm at the Tapas?

11 Why did you go to warn your friends instead of calling out from the balcony?

12 Who contacted the authorities?

13 Who participated in the searches?

14 Did anyone outside of the group learn about Maddie’s disappearance during the following minutes?

15 Did any neighbour offer you help after the disappearance?

16 What does the expression “we let her down” mean?

17 Did Jane mention to you that she had seen a man with a child that night?

18 How were the authorities contacted and which police force was called?

19 During the searches, and already with the police present, in what locations was Maddie searched for, how and in what manner?

20 Why didn’t the twins wake up during that search, or when they went to the upper floor?

21 Who did you call after the facts?

22 Did you call SKY News?

23 Did you know about the danger of calling the media, because that could influence the abductor?

24 Did you request the presence of a priest?

25 How was Madeleine’s face publicised, with a photograph, or other media?

26 Is it true that during the search you remained seated on Maddie’s bed without moving?

27 How did you behave that evening?

28 Did you manage to sleep?

29 Before the trip to Portugal, did you comment on a bad feeling or a bad premonition?

30 What was Madeleine’s behaviour?

31 Did Maddie suffer of any disease or did she take any kind of medication?

32 What was the relationship like between Madeleine and her siblings?

33 What was the relationship like between Madeleine and her siblings, her friends and her colleagues at school?

34 Concerning your professional life, in how many and in which hospitals have you worked?

35 What is your medical specialty?

36 Did you work by shifts, in emergency rooms or in other departments?

37 Did you work on a daily basis?

38 Did you stop working at a certain point in time? Why?

39 Do your twin children have difficulty in falling asleep, are they unruly and does that upset you?

40 Is it true that at certain times you were desperate over your children’s attitude and that left you upset?

41 Is it true that in England you considered the possibility of handing over Madeleine’s guardianship to a relative?

42 In England, did you give your children medication? What type of medication?

43 Within the process, you were shown films of cynotechnical inspection of forensic character, where the dogs can be seen marking indications of human cadaver odour and equally human blood traces, and only of human origin, as well as all the comments that were made by the responsible expert. After the visualisation, and after cadaver odour was signalled in your bedroom next to the wardrobe and behind the sofa that was pushed against the living room window, you said that you could not explain anything apart from what you had already said?

44 You said that you could not explain anything apart from what you had already said, concerning the marking of human blood behind the sofa by the detection dog?

45 You said that you could not explain anything apart from what you had already said, concerning the marking of cadaver odour in the boot of the vehicle that you rented a month after the disappearance?

46 You said that you could not explain anything apart from what you had already said, concerning the marking of human blood in the boot of the vehicle?

47 You said that you could not explain anything apart from what you had already said, upon being confronted with the result of the collection of Maddie’s DNA, which was analysed by a British lab, behind the sofa and inside the vehicle’s boot?

48 Did you have any responsibility or intervention in the disappearance of your daughter?

The question that she answered

Are you aware of the fact that by not answering these questions you may compromise the investigation, which is trying to find out what happened to your daughter? She said “Yes, if the investigation thinks so”.

A very plausible case against the McCanns

August 3, 2008

At approximately 10pm on 3 May 2007, at Praia da Luz on the Algarve in Portugal, Kate and Gerry McCann presented the world with a mystery, the disappearance of their 3 year old daughter Madeleine.

Today, Ned Tenko writing in the Observer and reviewing Gonçalo Amaral’s book Maddie: A Verdade da Mentira (The Truth About the Lies) states, after briefly putting Amaral’s main points, “This reviewer – as well as any objective person – would surely by now have ruled out any of these possibilities. The book does nothing to change one’s view that there is no plausible case against the McCanns”.

Whilst Ned Tenko’s review of Gonçalo Amaral’s book is quite good, his view that the McCanns are innocent of guilt in the disappearance of Madeleine is mistaken.

Kate and Gerry McCann claimed that between 8-8.30pm they had left their three children under 4 years of age unsupervised in their locked apartment, only to return at 10pm to discover Madeleine was missing. They claimed that an abductor must have broken into the apartment, whilst they were away, and kidnapped Madeleine.

Rather than state “that there is no plausible case against the McCanns”, the abductor theory is not plausible, which means that the last people to see Madeleine alive, after 6pm,  were Kate and Gerry McCann. Ned Tenko describes the McCanns as “an ordinary, middle-class family”. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. The McCanns in my book are best described as an odd couple. There is quite a bit about them which is strange to say the least.

According to Kate and Gerry McCann, there was no mystery surrounding the disappearance of Madeleine, because it was obvious to them that she had been abducted. They were certain of this. The McCanns have yet to explain why it is that they were so certain as to the fate that had befallen Madeleine. Whilst other holiday makers, locals, and the police and Mark Warner staff were out searching for Madeleine, the McCanns stayed in the apartment. This was odd. Because, if the McCanns were innocent, and returned from a night out to find their daughter missing, they would not have a clue what had happened to her. However, the McCanns claimed to know just what had happened to Madeleine. All they needed to do was to convince the rest of the world to accept their version of events.

Initially, the McCanns claimed that their apartment was locked and that an abductor had broken into the apartment and damaged the shutters when they were jemmied open. The McCanns had phoned their family and friends to give their version of events and told them to spread the word. Newspapers, radio and television picked up these reports and broadcast them as though they were factual reports. However, there were no visible signs of a break in according to John Hill, the Mark Warner complex manager. There was no evidence, according to the police and PJ, of any break in. Much later, even Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns media spokesman, confirmed that there was no evidence of a break in. However, the McCanns personally have not yet made any public statement why they lied about a break in. It has to be said, it is plausible that the McCanns lied to cover up their own involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine.

It is plausible that at 10pm, before she raised the alarm, Kate McCann opened the apartment window. It had been cleaned the day before. Kate McCann was asked whether she had touched the window, and she claimed that she had not. However, only Kate McCann’s fingerprints showed up on the window during the PJ fingerprint testing. Once again, the McCanns have yet to provide an explanation to refute this evidence against them. Not only is there no evidence of a break in, there is evidence against the McCanns that they have lied twice in relation to the break in and setting the scene to look like someone broke in. It must be plausible that the McCanns are involved in the disappearance of Madeleine, and their attempts to blame someone else must be suspicious to say the least.

One of the most disturbing things about this whole case is the way that the McCanns keep changing their story of events. When the break in version starts to crumble, the McCanns then claim that they left the apartment unlocked. So, instead of an abductor breaking into the apartment, he simply walked in through the unlocked patio doors and supposedly climbed out of the window. Surely, it would have made more sense to walk out the same way? But, there needs to be an explanation for the opened window. It is plausible that the McCanns were desparate to keep hold of the abductor theory and adapting it later to fit the police findings. In my view, once the break in story was rejected the abductor story should also have been rejected. Then this leaves the McCanns with no explanation for the disappearance of Madeleine.
